"Emotions Drive People, and People Drive Performance"
"Emotions Drive People, and People Drive Performance"
A peer-to-peer Learning community for human-centered Leadership at all levels
In a world where leaders are technically astute, bring years of experience and are highly knowledgeable, we’re still suffering through the worst wave of voluntary resignation since the industrial revolution.
Why?
Because, as Leaders and organiZations, we’re still failing to engage, align and collaborate with our employees; we’re missing the human element of Leadership.
For the first time in modern history, our labour force is in the wonderfully privileged position where they can demand better for themselves. Our employees are in a position of power, they possess the technical knowledge, education, skills, and aptitude we need to continue to grow and evolve our businesses, solving novel problems and adapting to the ever-changing landscape we operate in, they’re also in shorter supply, with certain industries in Australia hitting critical shortages (ABC, 2021).
Our employees are now worth much more, and they know it.
Employees no longer simply seek job security and a healthy pay-check, these are givens, our employees want (and deserve!) more, they want work-life balance, better leadership, and respect (Gartner, 2021). We’re able to give it, and it doesn’t actually cost us a cent we just need to learn how and commit to shifting the paradigm of how we work and how we lead.
To be a Human Leader is to be human, first. It’s to understand deeply the responsibility that comes with leading human beings, not just employees. We can no longer simply rely on our experience, technical knowledge, and conviction, we have to dig deeper and truly connect with our employees. When we lead in this way, we value and acknowledge not just the revenue generating capabilities our employees bring to the table, but who they are, what they stand for, and how we can foster their talent in a multitude of ways that engages both their technical skills, and their human (or soft) skill competencies.
Recent research by Gartner (2021) cited that 65% of employees believe their managers to be ineffective. Human Leaders acknowledge the need for continuous growth and evolution, they understand that in a VUCA world where nothing in business is constant, the only constant we can control is how we choose to show up and Lead.
Developing our capabilities in Human Leadership are no longer soft skills, they're core competencies and the longer we wait to invest in our leadership, the more likely the chance we loose employees as a result of outdated Leadership.
Our employees are demanding more from us, and so they should, it’s the 21st century and our lives should no longer be fully dictated by our jobs. Why can’t we build a work force where employees can contribute meaningfully, with flexibility and autonomy? We can have our cake and eat it too, we just have to be willing to change the way we lead and do business to prioritize human needs first.
If you’re ready to join the movement of Human Leaders changing the way we do business, join us as we launch our new platform in January 2022 providing you and your team the learning resources, coaching support and peer community to drive a human-centred approach to business.
