"Emotions Drive People, and People Drive Performance"
"Emotions Drive People, and People Drive Performance"
This 90 minute workshop is intended to help create a more harmonious workplace by increasing an awareness of the cultural differences between people in today's very diverse workplace. This training will provide a basic understanding about how a person can change their behaviour to be more inclusive. Various types of unconscious bias will be discussed as well as how to be aware of and manage these through practising self-awareness, self-management, awareness of others and managing interpersonal relationships. We cover how to relate to different social styles and how to be an ally to others in supporting an inclusive workplace.
This 90 minute workshop helps employees and clients to understand the Bystander Effect, Unconscious Bias, Micro-Inequities & Microaggressions. We learn about the 5 D's of Bystander Intervention and guidelines before choosing to intervene in what could be a difficult or even dangerous situation. Bystander Intervention is a strategy that teaches onlookers to insert themselves both indirectly and directly into harassment incidents, overriding the common instinct to feel frozen or unsure in such situations. This very much ties into the emotional intelligence training I provide that teaches people how to respond to situations rather than just reacting.
Unlike demographic diversity, which focuses on achieving a combination of different characteristics in its workforce, such as gender and age, cognitive diversity focuses on having a variety of thinking styles and perspectives. During this 90 minute highly interactive workshop, we will explore our own social styles as they relate to cognitive diversity, including an exercise, break-out group and video. An informal assessment of social styles will be made available ahead of time to each participant along with a description of social styles. Please come prepared for a lively discussion on this subject.
In this 90 minute workshop we will explore the phenomenon of psychological safety and create a safe place for participants to share their own experiences of feeling psychologically unsafe in the workplace. We will discuss the challenge of unconscious biases and the tell-tale signs of these to watch out for revealed through subtle micro-messages. At an individual level, a person’s emotional intelligence is the primary enabling skill that contributes to the level of psychological safety on a team and in an organization. Individuals with high emotional intelligence create higher levels of psychological safety, whereas those with low emotional intelligence can destroy it.
In this 90 minute workshop we discuss the four or even five generations now in the workplace and how to effectively communicate with each of these generations. We cover what the Multi-Generational Workforce is, where we fit and how to adapt to the three key challenges, those being #1. Age, #2. Values and #3, Communication. We will explore the meaning of Affinity Bias as well as the tell tale signs of bias including Micro-Inequities and Micro-Aggressions. In addition, we will cover the importance of effective non-verbal communication and stepping out of our comfort zone to effectively communicate with those of different generations. We will also discuss the importance of practising emotional intelligence.
This 90 minute workshop provides employees and clients with an understanding of how they can help to support psychological health and safety in the workplace through an understanding and development of their own stress hardiness and emotional resilience competencies. The link between Hardiness and Emotional Intelligence are many. How one experiences difficult or stressful situations relates back to one’s emotional intelligence. A person who tackles challenges has a belief in themselves: (Self-Regard), and a belief that they can work through a difficult situation: (Optimism). These are just two of the 15 emotional intelligence competencies.
